An important part of choosing to be happy is to look at what we are focusing on.

Anytime during our day we need to be aware of where our thoughts are. How are you feeling and what is on your mind at any given time? What is amazing is that we think the same thought over and over again and we’re not even aware that we are doing it.

Imagine how we are going to feel if the thought that we are thinking over and over again is a negative one.

The first step to changing this is to become aware of what we are thinking:

Identify your thoughts – for a whole day, write down daily the thoughts that you have and how often you have those thoughts, then write down the emotions you experience when you have those thoughts.

Create new thoughts – for the same day, write down some empowering thoughts that you could have instead and what kind of emotions those thoughts would create. Display them where you can read them often.

Interrupt your thoughts – begin interrupting any negative thoughts you have over and over again and replace them with the new empowering thoughts. This will get easier the more often you do it.

Notice the difference in how you feel!
